Begging license?
The city of Minneapolis and mainly Minneapolis Police Chief William McManus are toiling with the idea of requiring our local homeless folks where a photo ID during their begging escapades. Would this actually work? Our homeless and jobless folks of America do not have the know-how and initiative to find the slightest bit of work. What will make them take the responsibility to wear a legal form of ID based on an activity based from pure laziness? Plus, most licenses our cities require cost money; it's an oxymoron if they have to beg for money to beg for money. Does Minneapolis actually think they have a begging problem? Check out L.A., they have a problem. Be proactive, not reactive.

This is COMPLETELY degrading! Most homeless people are not homeless because they are ignorant or do not know how to work, it is because they lost their job or have had something horrible happen to them. To say homeless people are lazy is insane! Just be glad you have a roof over your head because someday, God forbid you have no job or family to help you out, you will be sitting next to them begging for food so you don't have to starve to death.
Let's just insult the homeless more by making them wear an ID badge.
Most Americans are only a couple of checks away from being homeless!
This blog was just E-mailed to me. If ignorance is bliss, that makes you one happy mother.
I think the ignorance is incorporated with the two previous comments, indeed, you both like to hide in your own LITTLE world of safety and when subject like this arise you like to give your own LITTLE opinion and then go back to your own LITTLE world never looking back. Do you think that you feeling sorry for these people actually helps, and that you are making positive progress to aide this problem. Think again. I highly doubt that either of you have donated your time to a food kitchen or a charity of another sort in order to ease you conscious of this matter. So maybe you should quit making your silly, sympathetic comments and donate some of your time.
I don't necessarily think that they are lazy, but I don't believe in the excuse that they can't find a job, there are thousands of jobs out there, I think they just don't want to do that type of work, or find it easier to beg...wait maybe they are lazy.
And to defend the author, I really don't think he was disrespecting them, but perhaps bringing the matter to attention. Possibly hoping for idea to help the cause. But then again, most are full of ridicule which wastes time for productivity.
I think that the city should create something like the Humane Society and Animal Control for the vegrants. Get them off the street, clean them up, and have families adopt them.
And if there are too many...

Thank you all very much for posting your comments on this topic. They are all good comments and no one is wrong. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Though, I do believe that some people should read more carefully at what was written and be careful to not make assumptions between the lines.
People have problems man, they have aweful complications. These are mostly based upon the decisions and choices we make throughout our lives. For example; I consider myself to have a very addictive personality. If I was to continue with my drinking I would not be at the point in my life as I am in currently. My decision has kept me from living on the streets and maintained healthy environments in which to live. Without this decision that I made a year and a half ago doors would shut all around me. Though, this is not so. To personally attach me for what I have written does not show ignorance in me, but elsewhere. By the way Anonymous #2, there are better quotes than one jacked from The Matrix.
My main point was that there are other options than tagging these people. Treating them like animals will not help any cause. My last sentence was stating to be proactive. Help these people. Put down your latte and get out to the local soup kitchen.
Also, if these people are licensed for begging I would like a receipt for my donation. It should be tax deductable.
I just read these and I'm sure this is the most action Jayflyer has seen in a very long time. The original post and comment #3 are very similiar and I'm sure were typed on the same computer.
The other more decent comments were probably just sympathy comments from friends. "Dude, did you just read what I wrote, yeah man looks good."
You're right. This IS the most action Jay Flyer has had in a while.
More than likely it is the most action ever too.
